• A common sense approach to
government that puts the citizen first – an open door policy. “YOU are the boss.”
I will work for you!
• I will vote to help our
police and firefighters with better pay and benefits.
• I will support changing
the zoning laws that relate to advertising to allow Harrodsburg businesses to
advertise on the 127 bypass. Thousands of cars travel the
bypass every day and are never aware of what they could be doing in
downtown Harrodsburg. More sales at restaurants in Harrodsburg means more money
for the city. This provides job security for our workers and will allow us to
continue to provide the services that every citizen depends on. It is time that
we ditch the old ways of thinking because clearly they are not working.
• I am for bringing new
events to downtown Harrodsburg and even some old ones. Remember Pioneer Days? I
want to bring Pioneer Days back! It was one of the greatest weeks of the year
and brought many people to town. Then they put a stop to it. I will work with
Harrodsburg First, the Harrodsburg/Mercer County Tourism Commission, or whoever
I must work with to continue that tradition. It would be a great stimulus to
our economy and we need it!
• A
government that respects the rights of property owners. I will support an
arbitration policy to help our citizens work out their differences with the
city and keep cases out of court if at all possible. I will put policies in
place that will help the business owner, not punish them for trying to attract
customers.
• New and better factories and places of employment for our citizens so that money can be earned in Harrodsburg and spent in Harrodsburg.
• A safer community for our
children and the elderly by working closely with the police force and
prosecutors. I believe that it is the will of the citizens that people who
commit heinous crimes be held accountable.
• A hefty tax on the
ill-gotten gains of those convicted of trafficking drugs in our city. Gone will
be the days of a slap on the wrist. If you spread poison to our community, you
will not have the money waiting for you when you get out of prison. I’ll propose and support strict laws that
will allow the city to seize the money and property of those convicted of
selling controlled substances in our community.
• The freedom of speech, religion,
and redress of grievances. You will always be welcome to come to the city
meetings and speak. I will support moving the city meetings back to a time when
people can actually attend.
